I believe that addiction is a mental health issue.  By being an outspoken champion for the importance of proactive mental health care, we will address many of the underlying causes of addiction. 

   

   I will support the County’s existing mental health and human services departments, along with empowering community healthcare providers, in an effort to eliminate the stigma associated with mental healthcare.  In doing so, we can reduce the number of relapse and recidivism cases throughout the County, which will save lives, save families, and save money.
